Welcome to the Prompt Engineering Hackathon for Humanities!
Welcome!
Thank you for registering for the Prompt Engineering Hackathon for Humanities, hosted by ASU's Enterprise Technology! We're excited to host you and support your creative thinking at the hackathon. Read on for helpful information about the event, including expectations, what to bring, parking, FREE lunch, prize info, and more!
What to Expect - Important!
- Bring your laptop and charging cables! There is a very limited supply of desktops that are available on a first come, first serve basis.
- Need an overview on generative AI? Explore our Canvas course! This course takes about an hour to work through and offers high-level explanations of generative AI tools, as is a great starting point for the hackathon whether you're taking a first-look or need a refresher.
- Create an account with ChatGPT 3.5 using your ASU email.
- Download Adobe Express using your ASUrite. All ASU students have complimentary access to Adobe Creative Cloud; submit a request for access here prior to attending the hackathon.
- We use Discord to share announcements and build teams. Download Discord to your mobile device, then join our server and introduce yourself in the #introductions channel!
- Lunch is provided on Saturday! We're offering Memorial Union meal vouchers valued at $20 to all attendees.
Venue
Check in for the hackathon at the Creativity Commons on Tempe campus (map). For those who are parking, we recommend parking at Apache Garage (map). Zoom
Our preference is for everyone to attend in-person; however, we can offer Zoom accommodations by request only. Please contact onherna1@asu.edu if you would like this accommodation by Thursday, Oct. 12.
Teaming
At this hackathon, you'll work in teams of 2-3 people. If you don't have a teammate, don't worry! You can use the Discord server to seek out teammates, and we'll have built in time for teaming at the event.
Mentorship and Evaluation
We're very excited to have Andrew Maynard and Elizabeth Grumbach join us as hackathon mentors. On Friday, they'll teach you the basics of smart prompt engineering design and lead you through two engaging warm up exercises prior to sharing the main challenge.
We're also thrilled to share our full panel of evaluators for Saturday's pitch competition:
